Air conditioner Rebates

Solar Panels Rebates

You can take advantage of the generous solar panels rebates in Victoria right now, through the Solar Homes Program by Solar Victoria.

Eligible homeowners can receive up to $1,400 in rebates for installing rooftop panels, along with an interest-free loan to cover the remaining cost. 

This rebate makes switching to solar more affordable than ever, while also increasing your home’s value and energy independence.

LED Light Rebates
(Commercial And Industrial Only)

Victorian businesses can significantly reduce their energy bills by upgrading to energy-efficient LED lighting through the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program.

THE AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT

Small Scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES)

  • Purpose: This is a federal scheme that provides financial incentives to install renewable energy systems (solar PV, small-scale wind, and hydro systems) across Australia, including WA.
  • Eligibility: Available to homeowners and small businesses installing eligible renewable energy systems.
  • Rebate Details: The incentive is typically offered as a one-off upfront discount for eligible systems, which helps reduce the overall cost of installation.

Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) Financing

  • Purpose: Provides low-interest loans and financing options for businesses and households to invest in energy-efficient technologies, renewable energy systems, and low-emissions projects.
  • Incentive: Financing through the CEFC can be used for a wide range of energy efficiency projects, including commercial solar installations, electric vehicle charging stations, and energy-efficient heating and cooling systems.
  • Eligibility: Businesses and individuals with eligible energy-saving or clean energy projects.

Energy Bill Relief Fund

The Australian Government released the Energy Bill Relief Fund, to help South Australians to pay electricity bills this financial year.

With the bills relief available from 21 July 2024 to 30 June 2025.

Rebate amount

  • Small businesses: Up to $325 a year, paid as:
    • Separate $81.25-credit for a quarter on your electricity bills, if billed by an energy retailer
    • A whole amount of $325 rebate on your electricity invoice, if it is an embedded network.
  • Household: Up to $300, paid as: 
    • Separate $75-credit for a quarter on your electricity bills, if billed by an energy retailer
    • A whole amount of $300 rebate on your electricity invoice, if it is an embedded network.

Eligibility:

  • Household: 
  • are separately metered and charged for energy consumption and have an active account with either:
  • a retailer 
  • an embedded network operator

If you hold multiple accounts, you’ll get the rebate on one of the accounts under your name.

  • Small Businesses: 
  • Consume less than 160MWh of electricity per year. For multi-site businesses, this applies to the combined energy consumption
  • and are either:
    • On a separately metered business tariff with an electricity retailer, 
    • In an embedded network

Cheaper Home Batteries Program

The Australian Government has their plan to launch the Cheaper Home Batteries Program on July 1st, 2025. With the total funding of $2.3 billion AUD, the program aims to help up to 1 million Australian households to transition to renewable energy by financially supporting battery purchases. 

Cheaper Home Batteries Program is made for homeowners, small businesses and community facilities, along with some system requirements to be eligible. 

The Australian Government supports:

  • Up to $1,100 annually for households adding batteries to existing solar.
  • Up to $2,300 annually for households installing both new solar and battery systems

The rebates will be reduced annually by 25% until the program ends in 2030.

VICTORIA

Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU)

An initiative by the government to help Victorian households and businesses reduce their energy bills by providing discounts and rebates to upgrade to energy efficient products.

Upgrades available under the VEU program:

  • Heat Pump
  • Air Conditioners
  • Lighting (LED)
  • Solar PV systems

Solar Victoria

Solar Victoria delivers the Solar Homes program on behalf of the Victorian Government, providing rebates and interest-free loans to help households adopt energy-efficient solutions.

Since launching in 2018, the program has supported over 400,000 installations and approved more than $700 million in rebates. It offers financial support for eligible solar PV systems, solar hot water, and battery storage.

The goal is to make renewable energy more accessible, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and help Victorians lower their electricity bills. The program plays a key role in accelerating the transition to clean, affordable, and sustainable energy across the state.

QUEENSLAND

Electricity and Gas Rebates

  • The Queensland government is handing out electricity and gas incentives for seniors and pensioners. 

    • With Electricity Rebate up to $372.20 per year including GST in financial support
    • And Reticulated Natural Gas Rebate of $89.70 annually (including GST)

    Eligibility: 

    • Department of Veterans’ Affairs Veteran Gold Card
    • Queensland Seniors Card
    • Services Australia Health Care Card* (Electricity Rebate only)
    • Asylum seeker status

    You also must be the electricity account holder. You also live alone or share your property with people that matches with the policy’s conditions

Cost of Living Rebate for Households

Queensland’s homeowners are getting $1000 off of their electricity bills in 2024-2025. The incentive will automatically credited to eligible residents. With the timing the same as your billing cycles, there would be “Queensland Government Cost of Living Rebate” on your bill.

Eligibility:

be individually metered and billed for their own electricity consumption on July 1, 2024, if they have an electrical account with their electricity retailer or embedded network operator.

The only people eligible for the rebate are:

  • Customers linked to the grid
  • Clients in remote areas where Ergon Energy is the electrical retailer.

NEW SOUTH WALES

The Energy Saving Scheme (ESS)

The ESS is NSW’s primary energy efficiency program, providing financial incentives for households and small businesses to install energy-efficient equipment. Incentives are delivered through upfront discounts via Accredited Certificate Providers (ACPs), who create Energy Savings Certificates (ESCs) for eligible activities. These activities include:

  • Upgrading to energy-efficient air conditioners
  • Replacing electric or gas water heaters with heat pump systems
  • Installing or replacing LED lighting
  • Upgrading to thermally efficient windows or doors
  • Installing pool pumps, efficient showerheads, and draft-proofing

Incentive amounts vary based on the specific upgrade and the energy savings achieved. For example, replacing an old air conditioner with a new 6kW split system can result in discounts ranging from $440 to $730. These discounts are applied directly to the installation quote provided by participating installers.

Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS)

The PDRS encourages households and businesses to reduce energy use during peak demand periods by offering incentives for

  • Installing battery storage systems
  • Connecting these systems to Virtual Power Plants (VPPs)

From November 1, 2024, eligible participants can receive:

  • Up to $2,400 off the upfront cost of a battery installation
  • An additional $400 incentive for connecting the battery to a VPP, claimable every three years

These incentives aim to reduce energy costs and enhance electricity grid reliability.

Household Energy Saving Upgrades

This initiative offers upfront discounts for installing energy-efficient appliances, including

  • Air conditioners
  • Heat pump hot water systems
  • LED lighting
  • Thermally efficient windows and doors
  • Efficient showerheads and draft-proofing

The discounts are applied directly to the installation quote and vary based on the specific upgrade and the energy savings achieved. It’s important to note that installers and the Accredited Certificate Providers (ACPs) they partner with operate independently from the NSW Government.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

City of Adelaide Incentives

Solar PV Rebate

  • Covers 20% of installed cost 
  • Depending on the Solar PV system size, there are different maximum of incentives:
    • For systems from 1.5kW to <10KW Solar PV: the systems are eligible for incentives to up to $1,000
    • For systems from 10kW to <20KW Solar PV: the systems are eligible for incentives to up to $2,500
    • For systems from 20kW and above: the systems are eligible for incentives to up to $5,000

Eligibility: 

  • Accessible to residential strata properties, concession card members, and renters.
  • Systems acquired under power purchase agreements or solar leases are eligible if ownership is transferred at the end of the term.

Battery Storage Rebate

Covers up to 50% of installation cost, for a maximum amount of $2,000

Eligibility: 

  • Accessible to properties that are either owner-occupied, rented, or own a Commonwealth concession card.
  • Battery systems need to be set up to maximize solar energy use.

WEST AUSTRALIA

Solar WA Program

This program provides rebates to eligible households and small businesses for installing solar panels. The aim is to help reduce energy bills and support the transition to renewable energy.

Rebate Details:

  • A one-off rebate for new solar installations for eligible applicants.
  • There are eligibility requirements, including income limits and a cap on the rebate amount, depending on the size of the installation.

Eligibility: Generally available to households and businesses in Western Australia with a certain income threshold, focusing on those who have not previously received a solar rebate.

Home Energy Efficient Scheme (HEES)

Purpose: HEES offers rebates to help low-income households improve their energy efficiency. It includes free and subsidized energy-saving appliances, such as LED lighting, efficient water heaters, and more.

Rebate Details:

    • Free or heavily discounted energy-efficient products and services.
    • Provides assessments and installations, like LED lighting and insulation. 

Eligibility: This program is aimed at low-income households in WA, including those receiving government benefits or with an income under a certain threshold.

Energy Assistance Payment

Purpose: While not directly linked to renewable energy systems like Solar Victoria or VEU, this payment assists eligible households with energy bills.

Eligibility: Low-income households, pensioners, and concession card holders are eligible for this support.

Details: It provides a one-off annual payment to help with electricity costs

NORTHERN TERRITORY

The Northern Territory Government currently does not provide any broad-wide state incentives and rebates at the moment.

But the Northern Territory Government does participate in the federal SRES scheme (Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme).

AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY

Home Energy Support: Rebates for Homeowners

Net zero is one of ACT’s ambitious goals in 2045, to phase away independence on fossil fuel. Which is why the ACT government is giving out energy incentive support to homeowners with the Home Energy Support program. This program provides up to $5,000 in rebates for eligible homeowners. 

Eligibility:

  • Have a home in the ACT
  • possess a Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card, Australian Government Health Care Card, or Australian Government Pensioner Concession Card.
  • Own and live in the house where the product will be put.
  • Participated in a free online class called Everyday Climate Choices
  • Possess a UV (unimproved value) of at least:
    • $750,000 for standalone residences or apartments and dual occupancy at the time of application in any year starting in 2022. This is determined by the unit entitlement proportion for freestanding properties with unit titles.
    • $300,000 for a multi-story apartment unit in any year starting in 2022

Electricity, Gas and Water Rebate.

This rebate helps eligible households to claim back part of their energy, water, gas and sewer wastage cost. It is calculated daily based on your utility cost and is only available for your main household. 

For the period 2024-2025, the annual rebate is increased by $50 and can cover up to $800 for utility costs. So take your chance now. 

Eligibility:

ACT residents holding one of the listed cards are eligible:

  • Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card
  • Centrelink Low Income Health Care Card
  • Centrelink Health Care Card
  • ACT Service Access Card
  • Veterans’ Affairs Pensioner Concession Card or Gold Card.

TASMANIA

The Tasmanian Government currently does not provide any broad-wide state incentives and rebates at the moment.

But Tasmania does participate in the federal SRES scheme (Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme).
